In crisis-affected regions like Timbuktu, this rate is even higher (13.1%). For children suffering from severe acute malnutrition, UNICEF promotes play as part of recovery and has introduced toys in therapeutic wards. The latest innovation is the introduction of "Eat and Play" boxes: cartons of ready-to-use therapeutic foods (RUTF) which can then be transformed into simple carton toys such as animals, towers and toy trucks.
